The Department of Plant Agriculture would like to recognize and congratulate the following researchers on their achievements at the 2026 Canadian Phytopathological Society (CPS) Annual Meeting.

Researchers from the McDonald Lab were honoured with three awards at the 2026 CPS Annual Meeting, held June 14–18 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The annual meeting brings together plant pathology researchers, students, and industry professionals from across Canada. 

• Dr. Mary Ruth McDonald was named a Fellow of the Canadian Phytopathological Society, one of the Society's highest honours.
• Dr. Afsaneh Sedaghatkish received the Outstanding Young Scientist Award. 

• Graduate student McKenna Campbell received first place for her oral presentation.

These achievements highlight the strength of research and student training within the McDonald Lab and the Department of Plant Agriculture.
