Science and Apples

Overview:

Did you know that it takes four apples to make a glass of pure apple juice?  Lucky for us, modern apple farms are using the dwarfing rootstock system - creating more efficient and productive orchards to provide this crowd pleasing beverage!

This week, Plant Ag. Prof, John Cline was featured in an article in the Star focusing on the science behind apple growing.  John and the researchers at Vineland are using this modern and sophisticated science to develop new varieties of apples as well as more disease and pest resistant apples.  Check out the article to read more about the many benefits of the rootstock system being used by more and more orchards.
