Putting the 'community' into new north end community garden

Overview:

Marco Pepe, a PhD candidate in the department of agriculture at the University of Guelph, has built a 300 square metre community garden at Golfview Park, with the hope of turning it into a gathering space for potlucks and agricultural workshops.

It’s more than your average community garden.

At least, that is the vision of Marco Pepe, who has spent the last month working his green thumbs to create a large community garden at Golfview Park in the city's north end.

Called the ‘Golfview Garden Guild’, Pepe is hoping the 300-square metre rectangular garden becomes a meeting space with community potlucks and more.

“I wanted to engage the community, and the best way that I know how – being a student of agriculture – is doing this type of thing,” said Pepe, a PhD candidate in the University of Guelph's department of agriculture.
