New Innovative Weed Management for Organic Crops

Overview:

An article recently appeared in the Norfolk News on an organic weed control project spearheaded by the University of Guelph.  Plant Ag Grad students Sierra Harris and Rachel Riddelle are working closely with retired University of Guelph professor, John O’Sullivan to test the results of using manuka oil as a natural weed control solution. The test plots for this project are located at the Simcoe Research Station.

The Organic Science Cluster Project II Project C.37.85 is a four year project that was initiated by the Organic Agriculture Centre of Canada at Dalhousie University.  The Organic Science Cluster Project II supports research and development in collaboration with the Organic Federation of Canada. Funding includes $8 million from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada and $2.7 million from industry partners.
