A Double Celebration for Jenny Van de Kamer

Overview:

On Friday we had a chance to wish Jenny Van de Kamer all the best in her upcoming retirement – on her birthday. Jenny has been with the University of Guelph for over 40 years. She started working in the Department of Research and joined the Department of Crop Science as the Administrative Officer in the 1980s, when Jack Tanner was the chair of that Department.  She continued in that role when the Department of Plant Agriculture was formed and has worked with 9 department chairs in her career.  We have all benefitted from Jenny’s help with various issues in our academic and professional careers. No issue was too small or too big for Jenny to be involved. She has been a constant source of support and advice on navigating through various processes at the University of Guelph.

By happy co-incidence the day we chose to celebrate Jenny’s retirement was also her birthday and the cake acknowledged both milestones. Luckily, Jenny will be back in the Department for the next two months to help us with the transition. But, she is looking forward to a summer at the cottage that is not constrained by the need to return to work.

Thank you to everyone who helped us celebrate Jenny's many contributions to our departmental life.

Peter
