Corpse Flower in Bloom at the U of G!

Overview:

The Corpse Flower, aka Titan Arum (Amorphophalus titanum) is once again in bloom at the Bovey Greenhouse! It is one one of the largest flowers in the world, growing up to 12 feet tall, and is native to the rainforests of Sumatra, Indonesia.

This foul smelling plant only blooms approximately once every three years, and is just one of four Titan Arum's that have been grown at the University of Guelph.  The first plant in Guelph was grown by seed, and took eleven years to bloom.  This blooming flower only lasts about one or two days.

The Bovey Greenhouse is open Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4:30pm.  The Titan Arum won't be in bloom for much longer, so come down to see (and smell) for yourself!
