Ali Navabi Featured in the Ontario Grain Farmer Magazine

Overview:

Ali Navabi was featured in the September issue of the Ontario Grain Farmer.  Ali holds the Grain farmers of Ontario Professorship in Wheat Breeding in the Department of Plant Agriculture.

The University of Guelph Wheat Breeding Program focuses on developing novel wheat varieties with enhanced productivity, quality, disease resistance, and improved utility in the cropping systems, with particular emphasis on the winter grown crop in south-western Ontario.  The research includes genetics and genomics studies to

  1. better understand the mechanisms controlling environmental adaptation of wheat in response to environmental variation.
  2. develop new breeding and selection strategies using novel tools.
  3. characterize the genetic factors controlling important traits in wheat.
