3MT

Overview:

This past Monday Andrea Hitchon and Emily Moeller competed in the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition. 3MT® is a university wide competition for graduate students in which participants present their research and its wider impact in 3 minutes or less to a panel of non-specialist judges. The challenge is to present complex research in an engaging, accessible and compelling way, using only one slide.

There were a total of 11 participants from across the university, and Plant Ag was the only department to have two representatives.

Congratulations to Emily placing 3rd for her 3MT slide "How to Make a Better Plant - Fast!" and to Andrea for her 1st place finish of her slide "Transgenic crops - the future of insect management?".  Andrea will move forward to represent the University of Guelph in the provincial competition on April 24th, 2014 at McMaster University.
