Peach Day 2023

Overview:

On Tuesday, August 29, Plant Ag students, staff and faculty, OAC Dean  as well as guests from the Dean’s office, Office of Research, Research Financial Services, School of Engineering (collaborators labs only), and Office of International Strategy and Partnerships attended Peach Day at Vineland Research Station.

The day started with a welcome and introductory remarks by Dr. Jay Subramanian followed by remarks from Drs. John Cranfield, Acting Dean OAC and Hugh Earl, Plant Ag Chair.

Guests were given a brief history of the Vineland Research Station as well as current research at Vineland by Jay followed by an overview of the Station given by Dr. Nicole Long, Director - Business and Client Development. Dr. Mike Pautler from Platform Genetics then gave a presentation.

Guests then followed Dr. Long outside to view and learn about the Tree Culture Park.

Following lunch outside, participants went to the orchard and picked both peaches and nectarines.

Our gratitude to all those who perform research at the station. Participants greatly enjoyed the day, particularly being able to go out into an orchard and pick peaches - something that most people can't do.
