Manish Raizada and the SAKNepal team have developed a responsive set of resources that include products and lessons to improve the livelihood of subsistence farmers in Nepal. These resources are intended to help the Nepalese farmers who have been affected by the earthquake. The reports are accompanied by detailed illustrations to inform farmers on their use. Please visit SAKNepal.org or click here to access these resources.
Working with Manish on this project from our department are Kamal Khadka (Advisor), Malinda Thilakarathna (Post-Doc), and Finlay Small (MSc Candidate).
Kamal has a newborn baby and wife still living in Nepal. Finlay has decided to stay on and help with relief efforts even as many Canadians were air lifted out after the first quake. You can visit Finlay’s blog to see photos and some of the things he is doing to help.
There are many ways you can help.
Thursday, May 14 the Plant Ag Plant sale will accept cash donations and will be donating a portion of their profits to the relief fund.
Wednesday, May 20 there is a potluck and silent auction being held (more details to follow)
Or you can donate to the fundraising campaign that has been launched by Raja Khanal, a former grad student and now a post-doc in Plant Agriculture at U of G. http://youcaring.com/ggnc-fund.
