The following list reflects public and industry opinions of what was looking nice in the trial gardens between Aug.12 and Aug.17/ 2011. As such it is simply a snapshot of that moment in time and must be interpreted as such. A more comprehensive list of good garden performers will be published in the near future.

Thanks to some folks from Landscape Ontario for directing me to this Google site. The picture was taken in the summer of 2009. The bright colours you see in the trial beds are petunias and geraniums (pelargoniums).

| Southern Ontario has experienced record levels of rainfall and as result the grass is very green and weed pressure in the flower beds is ever present. It is a good season to see what flowers stand up well to rainfall. Petunia flowers have traditionally fared poorly under pounding rain. Those petunia and calibrachoa cultivars that recover flower form quickly after a rain do stand out. | |
| Sunflowers in the field-grown cutflower trial are in full bloom | |
| Asiatic and LA hybrid lilies in the lily perennialization trial have established well in their second season of growth and are in peak bloom this week. The orientals are at the puffy bud stage. |
