Our lab is dedicated to the discovering and engineering of proteins with immunophysiological functions for oral delivery in crop plants and products.
Our research will result in the development of edible health technologies, which entail the synthesis in plants of proteins which enhance intestinal health, including antigens for vaccines, growth factors, antibiotics and other mucosally-active peptides. Veterinary applications would most likely involve feed additives, whereas applications to human health could involve seeds, fruits and extracts or food products containing these.
Our multidisciplinary research teams encompass expertise in veterinary and medical health sciences, animal nutrition, food science, and plant biology.
