U of G to Receive 10.6 Million for Research

Overview:

On June 11, Guelph’s MPP and minister of education, Liz Sandals, announced that the University of Guelph will receive more than $10.6 million to support research, funding 16 projects that span several different fields.  The funding comes from the Ontario Research Fund’s Research Excellence and Research Infrastructure programs, and Ontario’s Early Researcher awards.

The Ontario Research Fund - Research Excellence provides research institutions with funding to help support the operational costs of large scale transformative research of strategic value to the province.

The Early Researchers award program gives funding to new researchers working at publicly funded Ontario Research institutions to build a research team.

Approximately $3.2 million will go to Bioproducts Discovery and Development Centre (BDDC), which makes bio-based materials for use in auto parts and other consumer products.
